What causes hair loss?

Male Pattern Baldness (MPB) is a genetic trait. It’s called Androgenetic Alopecia. It’s inherited from your family. If the men in your family are showing a bald spot on the crown, it’s likely you will too.

This is an issue men have been dealing with for centuries. According to legend, Julius Caesar invented the laurel leaf wreath to cover his receding hairline.

Too bad Julius didn’t have access to Provillus in the days of the Roman Empire.

MPB results from genetic traits, and hormonal causes. Provillus can’t change your genetic history, but it can help with the hormonal causes.

DHT is the hormone involved in hair loss

DHT (dihydrotestostrone) is derived from androgen, a male hormone. As the androgen circulates through the bloodstream, it is converted to DHT by the enzyme, 5-alpha reductase. DHT tends to bind to hair follicle receptors,
causing the follicles to sprout thinner and thinner hairs until nothing regrows, and the follicles eventually wither away.

The life cycle of normal hair growth

Normally, hair has three phases of growth:

  • Anagen – The growth phase, lasts for two to six years. Usually 90% of the hair is in growth phase.
  • Catagen -- A transient phase lasting a few weeks. The hair becomes thinner and the follicle starts shrinking.
  • Telogen – The thinned hairs fall off to make way for new hair. This lasts for two to four months.

When excess DHT is in the bloodstream, it shortens the Anagen, or growth phase, and causes premature shrinkage of the follicles. Because the DHT is bound to the follicle, often the hair will not re-grow normally.

Provillus helps block DHT from strangling your hair follicles.

Minoxidil, the ingredient clinically proven, and approved by the FDA for re-growing your hair, inhibits DHT. This powerful active ingredient works in your hair follicles.

Finding Out About The Best Hair Loss Treatments

By Elena Lopes

Hair loss is a very common problem, but that doesn't make it any more pleasant when it happens to you. Lots of people have been looking for real hair loss treatments for hundreds of years, and even those who are considered experts don't see eye to eye on what works. Sometimes the best strategy is to just try something, as long as it's safe, and find out if it's helpful for you. The following information has some treatments for hair loss that many people have reported success with.

Next to hair transplant surgery, the most medically advanced treatment for hair loss is laser treatment. Lasers, which are tuned to a certain frequency, can actually induce increased blood flow in the scalp which will in turn help your hairs begin to grow. One product that is very popular is called a laser comb, which allows you to comb your hair and stimulate growth while doing so. Although you can buy these devices, physicians also do laser treatments and you might want to get a second opinion before spending your money. Laser combs, on the other hand, can be purchased over-the-counter and do not have a specific track record related to the results. If you're wondering about FDA approval, these devices have been approved and are safe for human use. If you really want to find out if lasers will work on your scalp, ask your doctor and use the high-tech versions that they have available. It has been demonstrated that, in some patients, laser treatment has provided hair follicle stimulation and growth over time.

Washing and drying your hair could contribute to your hair loss. To avoid any allergic or other reactions to your scalp, you should consider using a gentle shampoo. Right after washing your hair you should not rub the towel harshly. Do not run a brush through wet hair, it is much gentler to use a comb with wide teeth, you can always brush your hair later on with it is dry. It's also better to let your hair dry naturally than to subject it to frequent heating and drying. You should try to be as gentle as possible with your hair, as rough treatment will only accelerate hair loss.

For example, there is a little something called Ginko Biloba that can help improve functionality of the brain in addition to preventing loss of memory, but it can also improve the circulation to the rest of the body, which includes the scalp and the skin. Something that can be found as a supplement, which is in fact a Chinese herb used for boosting hair growth is called Fo-Ti. Another useful herb to take, especially for men, is saw palmetto, which is also recommended for protecting the prostate gland. There's no need for you to buy a bunch of ingredients as there are supplements out there that are created specifically for your hair.

There are hundreds and hundreds of products out there that say they can keep away hair loss. For most people, though, they won't work.

If you wish to take an approach that's natural the best thing is to eat healthily and use only natural products on your hair. Medications and surgical procedures exist where hair loss can be reversed, however they cost a lot of money. In this article we have only covered a select few treatments for hair loss, but you should try some as they may be able to help you.
