What causes hair loss?

Male Pattern Baldness (MPB) is a genetic trait. It’s called Androgenetic Alopecia. It’s inherited from your family. If the men in your family are showing a bald spot on the crown, it’s likely you will too.

This is an issue men have been dealing with for centuries. According to legend, Julius Caesar invented the laurel leaf wreath to cover his receding hairline.

Too bad Julius didn’t have access to Provillus in the days of the Roman Empire.

MPB results from genetic traits, and hormonal causes. Provillus can’t change your genetic history, but it can help with the hormonal causes.

DHT is the hormone involved in hair loss

DHT (dihydrotestostrone) is derived from androgen, a male hormone. As the androgen circulates through the bloodstream, it is converted to DHT by the enzyme, 5-alpha reductase. DHT tends to bind to hair follicle receptors,
causing the follicles to sprout thinner and thinner hairs until nothing regrows, and the follicles eventually wither away.

The life cycle of normal hair growth

Normally, hair has three phases of growth:

  • Anagen – The growth phase, lasts for two to six years. Usually 90% of the hair is in growth phase.
  • Catagen -- A transient phase lasting a few weeks. The hair becomes thinner and the follicle starts shrinking.
  • Telogen – The thinned hairs fall off to make way for new hair. This lasts for two to four months.

When excess DHT is in the bloodstream, it shortens the Anagen, or growth phase, and causes premature shrinkage of the follicles. Because the DHT is bound to the follicle, often the hair will not re-grow normally.

Provillus helps block DHT from strangling your hair follicles.

Minoxidil, the ingredient clinically proven, and approved by the FDA for re-growing your hair, inhibits DHT. This powerful active ingredient works in your hair follicles.

Healthy Hair Care Tips For Women's Hair Loss

By Eric Huff

Some women experience hair loss, so have you ever wondered if that could be prevented with healthy hair care habits? Not usually. Several things that can cause that are imbalances and genetic causes. Two other possibilities have to do with the environment and problems with the scalp. So, again, that is just one reason by itself why correct and effective hair care is vitally important. Yet another thing to think about is that healthy hair follicles can withstand abuse better than unhealthy follicles. If you're interested to learn how to maintain healthy hair and scalp, then continue reading this article.

Brushing your hair when its wet is a mistake. This is no joke. The best way to get the tangles out of wet hair is to dry it with a towel and then use a wide toothed comb to sort through the tangles gently. A brush is too rough on hair that's wet. It can actually take your hair right out, which may hurt. Even worse, it can be damaging to your hair follicles, which can impact the health of your hair. Brushes, then, should only be used on hair that is dry.

Save the blow dryer for special occasions or when you are running late. Nothing is better than the air for drying your hair. That's the truth. The more heat you force into your hair, the more brittle it can become. The heat can also cause your scalp to increase oil production which your hair will like but the rest of your head will not. When you've just washed your hair, you probably don't want to have a lot of oil in it afterwards. There is nothing simpler than air drying. Comb and go!

Make every effort to use a shampoo that matches your type of hair. Your hair stylist really can help you out here. This person can evaluate your hair and let you know which products and styles will work best with it. Avoid heavy shampoos if your hair is fine because it will weigh it down. If your hair is oily, then too much conditioner will not look flattering. This is the kind of important considerations you need to make, and your stylist can help you out.

It's true that hair care can take a back seat on the scale of importance. The thing with so many women is they will not consider their shampoo as a possible culprit when hair issues happen. While hair care might not stop all causes of hair loss, it can certainly prevent at least some of them. But it really can go a long way to stave-off any hair loss in some cases. If you're concerned about it, then the best thing is to talk to medical and hair professionals.
