What causes hair loss?

Male Pattern Baldness (MPB) is a genetic trait. It’s called Androgenetic Alopecia. It’s inherited from your family. If the men in your family are showing a bald spot on the crown, it’s likely you will too.

This is an issue men have been dealing with for centuries. According to legend, Julius Caesar invented the laurel leaf wreath to cover his receding hairline.

Too bad Julius didn’t have access to Provillus in the days of the Roman Empire.

MPB results from genetic traits, and hormonal causes. Provillus can’t change your genetic history, but it can help with the hormonal causes.

DHT is the hormone involved in hair loss

DHT (dihydrotestostrone) is derived from androgen, a male hormone. As the androgen circulates through the bloodstream, it is converted to DHT by the enzyme, 5-alpha reductase. DHT tends to bind to hair follicle receptors,
causing the follicles to sprout thinner and thinner hairs until nothing regrows, and the follicles eventually wither away.

The life cycle of normal hair growth

Normally, hair has three phases of growth:

  • Anagen – The growth phase, lasts for two to six years. Usually 90% of the hair is in growth phase.
  • Catagen -- A transient phase lasting a few weeks. The hair becomes thinner and the follicle starts shrinking.
  • Telogen – The thinned hairs fall off to make way for new hair. This lasts for two to four months.

When excess DHT is in the bloodstream, it shortens the Anagen, or growth phase, and causes premature shrinkage of the follicles. Because the DHT is bound to the follicle, often the hair will not re-grow normally.

Provillus helps block DHT from strangling your hair follicles.

Minoxidil, the ingredient clinically proven, and approved by the FDA for re-growing your hair, inhibits DHT. This powerful active ingredient works in your hair follicles.

Some Quick Hair Loss Prevention Tips For Men

By Eugene Yeng

In general, roughly 50% of men will begin to lose their hair and by the age of 50 at the very latest. Most men will not take very kindly to this and will be looking for ways of preventing their hair loss, or at least limiting it. But is there actually anything that you can do in order to achieve this? The answer to this is generally, yes. Here are some simple hair loss prevention tips specifically for men.

The first thing that you may want to do is look back at your family history. Baldness is somewhat genetic and therefore you need to find out how many men in your family have suffered this fate. Are there any men within your family who are over 50 years of age and yet have a full head of hair? If so then this may be a good sign for you.

Make sure that you examine your own habits as well. Are you stressed on a frequent basis? Are you getting enough sleep? These are just a couple of habits that will cause you to lose your hair more quickly if they are fully installed into your daily life. In order to prevent baldness, therefore, it is important for you to address these habits as early as you can.

Are vitamins a solution? Vitamins are certainly very important in sustaining your hair, especially when they are found in your diet. Try to focus on a diet that has a rich amount of zinc, iron, calcium, copper, vitamin B-7, and vitamin B-12. It may be quite complicated trying to incorporate all of these different vitamins into your diet, and therefore a multivitamin supplement might be the best way forward. This will ensure that you are getting the required amount of vitamins into your diet everyday.

Massaging may also be something that can help. Massage has been proven to increase blood flow and therefore improve the overall health of your head and scalp. You should, therefore, gently massage your scalp on a frequent basis in order to remove tension from the hair follicles. While this step may seem relatively small, in the long run it can lead to significant tangible progress.

Relaxation is certainly very important. As mentioned earlier, stress can be a significant contributor to early hair loss and therefore it is very important that you relax frequently. Relaxation can be done through several different techniques, such as meditation and deep breathing exercises.

Exercise is also very important. Exercise is absolutely critical to general health and will help you to increase blood circulation around the body. It is best if you can exercise outdoors. Sunlight contains vital doses of vitamins D which are also very important in helping you to remain healthy.

Of course, there are alternative methods that you could use. Herbal supplements, for example, are available and these may also lead to positive results. Chat to your Dr as well. They may be able to offer you some advice on different techniques that you could follow.
